New Article!: Monitoring the Human and Legal Rights of People with Disabilities

People with disabilities constitute the largest minority worldwide, and countries need systems to objectively evaluate whether the rights of people with disabilities are being upheld. Mapping elements of a National Core Indicators survey instrument with the UN’s Convention on Rights on Persons with Disabilities, HSRI’s Alixe Bonardi and colleagues outline a process toward creating an internationally validated and psychometrically sound “Rights” scale.

New Resource on Oral Health Care for Adults with IDD

People with intellectual and developmental disability (IDD) are more likely to have poor oral health as compared to the general population. And for many people with IDD, it can be challenging to get good oral health care.

Alixe Bonardi, director of IDD services research at HSRI, and colleagues at the Center for Developmental Disabilities Evaluation and Research at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Center, University of Massachusetts Medical School summarized evidence-based and promising practices to inform clinicians and support better oral health care for the IDD population. National Leadership Institute on Developmental Disabilities - Summer 2018

Applications for the University of Delaware's National Leadership Institute on Developmental Disabilities to be held July 15-20 will be accepted through May 16. Applications completed by April 13 are eligible for an early-bird rate!

This week-long, intensive leadership development program is designed for current executive-level leaders and emerging leaders. Participants may work in areas of management or program leadership in organizations that provide, advocate for, or fund supports for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities and their families.
