How can we help?Let's talk
Hello Friends and Colleagues of Reena Wagle,
It is with immense sadness that we share news that our former HSRI colleague, Reena Wagle, has passed away. Reena died at home, of natural causes, yet far too young as she was only 50 years old.
Reena had a laugh that would resonate through our offices and hallways and a spirit to match. She was committed to supporting people with disabilities to find their voices, and use those voices to inform and better the world. Reena radiated passion, spirit and mischief in all she did….her work, friendships, dance, photography and cooking. And she saved a special place in her heart for her family and her greyhounds (also family).
Regarding her passion for supporting people with disabilities… please view the following clip:
One of Reena’s close friends at HSRI, Jennifer Negus, wrote this about Reena:
“Reena was a vibrant, funny spirit that would thrive on debate and the fight for a good cause, especially for those closest to her heart - people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She believed in equality all around. Her heart was also very close to rescuing greyhounds, and the love of her own adopted ones. Reena would stand up for those who couldn't stand up for themselves. She was a determined person, with a big heart. She knew how to make you laugh, or argue you into it (whether or not you wanted to). Her soul sought adventure. Her heart sought dance. Her mind sought knowledge. Her body sought peace. I was fortunate to have known Reena. I now try to focus on the good memories, what she stood up for, and the hopes she had for her life. Yes, I can still hear her voice in my head and hear her laugh. But what I hope is that she knows she brought positivity to those closest to her, and that her spirit will be missed. May her soul rest in peace.”
Reena's vibrant personality will be greatly missed.
