    Under contract to the Illinois Planning Council on Developmental Disabilities, HSRI is partnering with self-advocates to develop a consensus based plan that will identify a vision for self-advocacy and a framework for action reflective of issues important to people with developmental disabilities throughout Illinois.

  • Juntos Podemos Family Cooperative

    Juntos Podemos Family Cooperative
    (2005)

    HSRI received funding from The Kaiser Permanente Community Fund and Northwest Health Foundation to establish and operate the Juntos Podemos Family Cooperative. This Cooperative creates opportunities for families who have a child with disabilities to own their first home, start a new business, return to school, or meet the specialized/adaptive needs of their child.

    Technical Assistance Provider to CMS 2004 Real Choice Systems Change Mental Health Transformation Grantees
    (2005-2009)

    This project provided ongoing technical assistance and training opportunities to 10 states awarded grants in the mental health area. The purpose was to improve the ability of States to offer evidence-based and recovery-oriented services to consumers with mental illnesses with support of the Medicaid system.

    The Riot! is an e-newsletter for self-advocates. Self-advocates are people with disabilities who speak up for themselves and others. Self-advocates speak up with spoken words, sign language, language boards or in ways unique to each person.
