    Quality Assessment Services: Implementing Surveys of People with Developmental Disabilities and Family Members in California
    (2010-2012)

    The California Department of Developmental Services has contracted with NCI and our colleagues at the National Association of Developmental Disabilities Services, Allen and Shea, and Temple University to assist them in the implementation of consumer and family surveys at the state and regional center level. The work involves developing a sampling plan, training surveyors, creating reports, and working with the state and regional centers to review and analyze the data.

    Evaluation of Ohio's Differential Response Research and Demonstration Project
    (2010-2013)

    With funding from the U.S. Children's Bureau, HSRI is conducting a three-year evaluation of the Differential Response (DR) Initiative in Ohio, a best-practices approach to serving families reported for child abuse or neglect. DR provides an alternative to the traditional child welfare investigative approach, rather offering families a more critical role in assuring the safety and well-being of their children.

    Hogg Foundation on Evaluation of Alternatives to Seclusion and Restraint for Trauma-informed Care
    (2009-Present)

    This project was funded by the Hogg Foundation to evaluate successful initiatives in Texas to reduce the use of seclusion and restraint in juvenile justice facilities, psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment centers and schools.

    Quality Improvement, Quality Councils and Performance Measures in Florida
    (2008)

    HSRI is working with the Delmarva Foundation to assist the state Medicaid and developmental disabilities agency to improve the quality of services and supports in the state. HSRI’s specific tasks include helping to constitute a state quality council, developing training material for the council participants, assisting in the development of performance indicators, training NCI surveyors, and conducting validity checks to ensure the integrity of the surveys.
