Syed Waqar Alam is a research analyst at HSRI. He initally joined us as an Applied Data Fellow from the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy. With a passion for health equity, Waqar is particularly skilled at working with public agency staff to analyze health outcomes among population groups. He is also highly skilled in data analysis, data presentation, and report writing. In addition to supporting clients in analyzing state claims data, Waqar also has deep experience working with publicly available socioeconomic data. Waqar is skilled in R, Python, SPSS, STATA and ArcGIS.
Prior to joining HSRI, Waqar was a research associate at Pakistan Agricultural Coalition, where his work centered on piloting innovative agriculture transformation projects. Prior to that, he worked as a research assistant on a clinical randomized control trial for knee arthritis patients at Indus Hospital Research Centre in Karachi, Pakistan.
When not at work, Waqar enjoys following current events, reading, and practicing his comedy routine and voice impersonation skills.
