Review of State Compliance Reporting Under the Garrity V. Sunnunu Court Decree Prepared for New Hampshire Department of Health and Welfare
(1984-1984)HSRI conducted a very unusual and interesting assessment for the State of New Hampshire. The project involved a review of the quality and accuracy of the state's sixty-day reports mandated under the federal court order in the Garrity v. Sunnunu litigation.

Conduct of a Two Year Longitudinal Study of Services to Developmentally Disabled Persons in New Hampshire
(1984-1986)With support from the New Hampshire Developmental Disabilities Council, HSRI carried out an applied research project which provided an analysis of the growth and changes in functioning among people with developmental disabilities living at Laconia State School as well as in community residences.

Pennhurst Longitudinal Study
(1979-1985)The Pennhurst study represented a five year effort to assess the impact of the Halderman v. Pennhurst decree on the individual class members and on the mental retardation delivery system. The study which was funded by the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, was conducted collaboratively with the Temple University Developmental Disabilities Center and included multiple areas of inquiry.

(1976-1977)This early study conducted in the late 1970s, focused on the movement toward community-based care for people with developmental disabilities, and its subsequent impact on the current shape and content of the system of services.

Deinstitutionalization of People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities: An Assessment of Experiences in Five States
(1976-1978)This study is a companion assessment to the research noted above. As part of a second study funded by the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, HSRI joined with Lewin and Associates to conduct an in-depth analysis of deinstitutionalization activities involving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in five states.
