Florida Health and Wellness
HSRI is working with the Palm Beach Habilitation Center, located in Lake Worth Florida, and the Florida Association for Rehabilitation Facilities to improve health and wellness behaviors for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Activities emphasize personal control, peer support, health education and building community capacity as four primary health promotion strategies to facilitate increased physical activity and healthy eating among people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The project includes local service providers, businesses, and community organizations in a Learning Community to provide increased access to health and wellness activities to this population.
