The Human Services Research Institute (HSRI) is seeking to hire a part-time or full-time paid summer intern to work on behavioral health research and evaluation projects in its Cambridge, MA offices. Duties include but are not restricted to: contributing to the development of data collection protocols and instruments, and preparing proposals for submission to an institutional review board.
Essential Job Functions
Manages data and databases in compliance with HIPAA regulations and completes basic to intermediate analyses (quantitative or qualitative) according to project deadlines
Contributes to the development of data collection protocols and instruments, and to proposals prepared for submission to the institutional review board
Assists with all data collection activities, gathers data through activities such as telephone and site visit interviews
Contributes to the development and writing of reports
Performs additional duties, as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Requires a bachelor’s degree (master’s candidate preferred) with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience
Basic to intermediate skills with statistical software packages
Basic to intermediate knowledge of statistical and/or qualitative analysis techniques
Ability to learn additional software and/or web-based applications as necessary
Experience with presentation software
Excellent communication and follow-up skills
Ability to work under limited supervision
Ability to work as a collaborative team member
Conditions of Work
The intern will be assigned a mentor whose responsibilities include
Training and supervision
Developing a set of learning and career development goals in collaboration with the intern
Providing guidance and monitoring progress toward mutually agreed upon goals
Pay will be commensurate with skills and experience; hours per week are negotiable
We anticipate that the position will run from May 1 through September 29, 2017, but the start and end dates are flexible
