Child and Family Services Program Director
The Human Services Research Institute (HSRI) seeks a full-time Program Director to lead the Child & Family Services team in our Tualatin, Oregon office. We are a non-profit research organization that conducts research and evaluation, and provides training and technical assistance in the fields of child welfare, developmental disabilities and mental health.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to oversee several current large-scale child welfare projects. These efforts primarily involve research or evaluation-based study. In addition, such work involves partnership with state human services agencies, local organizations and others to complete and disseminate findings. The position requires the ability to manage and oversee multiple projects, supervise project staff, develop new funding opportunities, and contribute to overall management of the office.
Qualifications: The individual we seek must have the following qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge and experience centered on child and family services, including evidence based practices;
- Ph.D. degree, with a strong background in social services research, especially qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods, statistical analysis and policy analysis;
- Experience presenting project findings and other related topics, building partnerships, and disseminating work to stakeholders at local, state and national levels;
- Extensive experience directing complex projects, including managing and mentoring staff, compiling and writing project reports, and making contributions to the scholarly literature in one or more areas of child and family services;
- Ability to work collaboratively with other organizations and funders;
- Proven capability to generate financial support for continued work, including experience with responding successfully to RFPs and developing lines of work that attract funding.
- Willingness to travel.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Work with organization management to integrate CFS efforts into larger HSRI mission.
- Promote CFS team actions to complete its work, but also to acquire funding consistent with the evolving interests of the team.
Additional Information:
- This is a full-time salaried contractual position including benefits. Salary range ranges from $85,000-$110,000 depending on skills and experience.
- The position is located in Tualatin, Oregon and requires that the individual reside in the local area. Responsibilities cannot be fulfilled on a virtual or off-site basis.
- Occasional travel to various jurisdictions to fulfill project responsibilities is required.

Research Analyst
HSRI seeks a full-time Research Analyst to work in our Tualatin, Oregon office. We are a small, non-profit research organization that conducts research and evaluation, and provides training and technical assistance in the fields of child welfare, developmental disabilities and mental health.
This position offers a mix of responsibilities, including instrument design, data collection and analysis, report writing, and project management.
Qualifications: The individual we seek must:
- Have a Master’s degree plus three years of experience in qualitative and quantitative research and evaluation methods;
- Have experience in human and social services, with preference to experience in child and family services;
- Have strong project management skills;
- Have experience in managing data, conducting interviews, and facilitating small groups;
- Work well independently AND as part of team;
- Be organized and detail-oriented;
- Have strong analytic writing skills;
- Be willing to travel;
- Be skilled in the MS Office software package (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint), and SPSS;
In addition to these required qualifications, we would be interested in an individual who has:
- Experience in responding to RFPs and writing proposals;
- Experience with NVivo6 or another qualitative analysis software program;
- Experience in the field of child welfare, especially kinship care.
Additional Information:
The position is located in Tualatin; however, occasional travel is required.
